Restore Page, Product, and Post History
In this guide, you will choose the correct history entry and restore an earlier page, product, or post version. Estimated time: 5 minutes.
If content was changed incorrectly, do not recreate it immediately. AllinCMS site admin keeps separate history versions for pages, products, and posts.
When to Use This
- A page module was deleted or its layout became disordered.
- Product text, images, categories, or other fields were changed incorrectly.
- A post title, body, cover image, or other fields were changed incorrectly.
- Several edits were made and you can no longer identify the mistake.
Choose the entry that matches the content you changed:
| What to restore | Where to find history | What it restores |
|---|---|---|
| Page | History in the upper-left of the page designer | Page modules, layout, text, images, and links |
| Product | History in the upper-left of the product editor | Product body, images, categories, tags, description, and other fields |
| Post | History in the upper-left of the post editor | Post title, body, cover, category, description, and other fields |
This guide restores an older version of an existing page, product, or post. It does not directly recover an entry or media file that has been deleted completely.
1. Restore a Page Version
Path
AllinCMS site admin -> Themes -> target theme -> design the target page -> History in the upper-left corner
Restore Steps
- Open the page that was edited incorrectly in the page designer.
- Click
Historyin the upper-left corner. - Use the version number and time to select the version before the mistake. Start with the version immediately before the current one instead of jumping to the oldest version.
- Open the history version and inspect the preview. Check navigation, module order, text, images, and links.
- When the content is correct, click
Savein the upper-right corner, then clickPublish. - Open the live site and refresh the page to confirm that it has been restored.
2. Restore a Product or Post Version
Products and posts use the same recovery process, but you enter from a different menu:
- Product path:
AllinCMS site admin -> Products -> open the target product -> History in the upper-left - Post path:
AllinCMS site admin -> Posts -> open the target post -> History in the upper-left
- Open
ProductsorPostsfrom the left menu, then open the entry that was changed incorrectly. - Click
Historyin the upper-left of the editor. - Use the version number, time, and
Draft/Publishedlabels to select the version before the mistake. - After loading the version, verify the product name, body, images, categories, tags, and description, or the post title, body, cover, category, and description.
- When everything is correct, click
UpdateorPublishin the upper-right as needed. - Open the corresponding product or post on the live site and refresh it to confirm the restored content.
Do not publish based only on the version time. For pages, verify navigation, modules, text, images, and links. For products and posts, also verify categories, tags, descriptions, and other fields before saving or publishing.
