Homepage Basics

Tip: In this guide, you will update the required homepage modules. Make the site usable first, then improve the design. Estimated time: 15 minutes.

Before editing the homepage, confirm you already have:

  • 3 to 4 product categories.
  • At least 2 products in each category.
  • 3 basic posts.

If not, go back to Getting Started and prepare the content first.

Check the default homepage and confirm it works before editing modules

The default template usually already includes Header, Carousel, Category Showcase, Featured Product List, Featured News List, Footer, and similar modules.

If these modules already exist on the homepage, edit text, images, links, and data first. Do not delete everything and rebuild in the first round.

If the homepage is blank or 404, do not continue editing modules. Go back to Create a Site and check whether the theme was created, enabled, and assigned a homepage.

Link setting cheat sheet (open when needed)

Many homepage modules use Target, Detail Page, or button links. Use the table below first instead of guessing paths.

Where the click should goPreferred setting
Normal pages, such as Home, About Us, Contact Us, or OEMTarget -> Internal -> Page -> Target page
Product listing pageTarget -> Internal -> Page -> Products; if this option is not available, use Custom -> /products
Product category pageTarget -> Internal -> Products -> Product Category -> Target category
A specific productTarget -> Internal -> Products -> Product -> Target product
Product or post cardsUse /products for products and /posts for posts in Detail Page

Use a Custom path only when the current module does not provide Internal or Detail Page.

For full screenshots and complete paths for categories, products, posts, and pages, read Redirect Links.

1. Header Menu

Keep the header menu simple at first:

Home -> Products -> News / Blog -> About Us -> Contact Us

Check whether these links open first. If they open, edit the menu text. If they do not open, fix links first.

Header link setting and screenshot

For normal pages, do not type paths by hand. Select them in the right-side properties:

Target -> Internal -> Page -> Target page

For example, choose the Home page for Home, the About Us page for About Us, and the Contact Us page for Contact Us. Custom pages such as OEM or Services use the same method.

Related guides:

Stop when it works. If the header menu links open the correct pages, move to the next step. Do not spend the first round polishing complex styles.

2. Dropdown Menu

If you have many product categories or company pages, place them under a dropdown menu.

Common structure:

Products
- Wireless Earphones
- Bluetooth Speakers
- Smart Watches

For product categories, use the internal category link instead of typing a guessed URL:

Target -> Internal -> Products -> Product Category -> Target category

If the dropdown item points to a normal page, such as OEM or About Us, use Target -> Internal -> Page -> Target page.

Only copy the real path from the frontend /products page when the current module does not provide Internal or Product Category.

Read Dropdown Menu for detailed steps.

The banner carousel is also called the Hero Banner. In the editor, the block is usually named Carousel (Campaign). It is the first thing visitors see when they open the website.

If the homepage already has a carousel block, edit its text, images, and button links first. Do not delete and rebuild it in the first round. Add a new carousel only when the homepage does not already have one.

There are two ways to add it:

  • Recommended: enter this AI instruction: Add a carousel module below the top menu.
  • Manual: find All Sections / Campaigns -> Carousel (Campaign) in the left block list, then drag it onto the page.

Turn Off the Image Mask

If the banner image has a gray overlay, select Carousel (Campaign) and turn off Show Image Mask in the right-side properties. You can also tell AI: Turn off the carousel image mask.

The mask is optional

Turning off the mask makes the image brighter, but it can also make white text harder to read. Turn it off when the image is dark and text stays clear; keep it on when the image is bright.

Turn off the image maskCheck Show Image Mask when the image looks too dark.

After selecting Carousel (Campaign), edit the current carousel item in the right-side Props panel. Update these first:

  • Title and Description: explain what you sell and who it is for.
  • Image: upload your own wide banner image.
  • Primary Label / Primary Target: main button text and link.
  • Secondary Label / Secondary Target: secondary button text and link. Keep or remove it as needed.

For button links, use Internal first. Common settings are: the primary button goes to Products, and the secondary button goes to Contact Us or OEM.

Primary Target -> Internal -> Page -> Products
Secondary Target -> Internal -> Page -> Contact Us

To add another carousel slide, scroll to the bottom of the right-side Props panel, click + Add service item, then upload the image and edit the text.

Carousel button page links use the same setting as header menu links: Target -> Internal -> Page -> Target page. For the screenshot, refer to the page link image in "1. Header Menu" above.

AllinCMS admin add carousel item - click Add service item at the bottom of Carousel Campaign Props

For the first round, update 3 things:

  1. Title: clearly say what you sell.
  2. Subtitle: explain your strength or use scenario in one sentence.
  3. Button: link to the product page or contact page.

Example:

Title: Custom Bluetooth Audio Products
Subtitle: OEM earphones and speakers for global brands.
Button: View Products
Link: /products

Use wide banner images and avoid large files. Before uploading, read Image Guidelines. If you do not know the right size, use the screenshot measurement method in that guide.

Do not use empty banner text. Avoid generic text like Welcome or Best Service. After the first screen, visitors should know what you sell.

4. Category Showcase

The product category module helps visitors browse by category. Place it after the banner.

Finish Product Categories before setting this module.

For the first round, show only 3 to 4 main categories. Do not show every small subcategory.

Check:

  • Category names are your real categories.
  • Category images are clear and prepared with Image Guidelines.
  • Clicking a category opens the correct product list.
Category link setting

If the module reads product categories automatically, you usually do not need to set each link manually. Just click the category on the frontend and confirm that it opens the matching product list.

If a category entry needs a manual Target, choose:

Target -> Internal -> Products -> Product Category -> Target category

This uses the same internal product category link setting shown in the dropdown section above. For the full screenshot, refer to "Dropdown link setting and screenshot" above or open the category link section in Redirect Links.

Featured products show your key products. Place them after product categories.

Check these settings:

  • Each category has at least 2 products.
  • Featured products are not template/test products.
  • The product module Detail Page is set to /products.
  • Clicking a product opens the detail page.
Featured product link setting and screenshot

For product cards, you do not set a separate link for every product. Set the module detail page correctly:

Detail Page -> /products

Then any product card can open its matching product detail page.

To control highlighted products, read Homepage Featured Products.

For detailed settings, read Product Module.

Recommended posts can show news, blog posts, cases, or knowledge articles.

For the first round, add 3 posts:

  • One company or factory capability post.
  • One product knowledge post.
  • One case or application post.

The post detail page is usually:

/posts
Featured post link setting and screenshot

Post recommendation modules work like product modules: do not type a separate post link for every card. Check the module detail page in the right-side properties.

Detail Page -> /posts

Posts must be created and saved in the admin first. If the homepage post module is empty, check the post list in Add Posts.

AllinCMS admin post list - check whether posts have been created and saved

Post module detail page settings work like product modules. The difference is that Detail Page should be /posts. For the property location, refer to the featured product screenshot above.

If post links show 404, check whether the detail page is selected correctly.

The footer usually contains:

  • Company name and short introduction.
  • Product category links.
  • About Us / Contact Us.
  • Email, phone, and social links.
  • Copyright.

For clickable phone and email links, read Contact Links.

Footer link setting and screenshot

Footer pages and product categories use the same rules as the header:

Footer contentLink setting
About Us, Contact Us, OEM, and similar pagesTarget -> Internal -> Page -> Target page
Product category linksTarget -> Internal -> Products -> Product Category -> Target category
Emailmailto:email address
Phonetel:phone number

Footer normal page links use the same setting as header links. Choose Internal when available; use custom links only for email and phone:

AllinCMS admin footer phone and email link setting - mailto and tel link inputs

The footer matters. Many visitors scroll to the footer to find email, phone, and company information. Do not leave it as template text.

First-Round Check

You can move on when:

  • Header menu links work.
  • Dropdown menu links are correct.
  • Banner text is no longer template text.
  • Product categories open category pages.
  • Featured products open detail pages.
  • Posts open detail pages.
  • Footer contact info is real.

Add advanced modules after this check. After these 7 items pass, add Cases, image gallery, video modules, and popup forms. Do not add complex modules before the basics work.
